The Andy Haines Memorial Round is an ultra-distance fell route created by members of Holcombe Harriers to celebrate the life of Andy, who sadly passed away in November 2024 while out running with the club.
Starting and finishing at the Hare and Hounds pub in Holcombe Brook—the home of the club’s weekly run—the route explores many places meaningful to Andy and the Harriers. Along the way, it visits the cairn built in his honour and the commemorative plaque beside Peel Tower.
Designed to showcase the area’s beautiful trails, climbs, and descents, the route links Holcombe Moor and Scout Moor. It includes six trig points, two cairns, two crosses, a chimney, and a tower—highlighting some of the region’s finest fell running terrain.
A GPX file is available to download, or you can plan your own route between the checkpoints for an extra navigational challenge. Runners can complete the round in one go or in sections; there’s no time limit. It’s an excellent long training route and a fitting way to remember Andy’s love for the fells.
